Resolution #1: make the bed in the morning

They say if you do something for 21 days it becomes a habit…well it’s day 10 and let’s just say I’m working off of the 80/20 rule. But still progress and it makes our whole house feel more put together. I don’t feel like I need to keep the bedroom door shut to hide away the messy bed and pillows on the floor.

This last year I invested in bedding from Classic Bedroom Design that completely changed the look and feel of our room. The monogrammed shams and ribbon etched in a classic pattern. The blanket at the end of our king bed is Legacy Home (to-the-trade) purchased through Classic Bedroom Design.

My bed frame is upholstered but I wanted to change things up so I added a velvet bedskirt that elevates the entire look. My Little Design Co. extra large bolster brings in colors of soft pinks and beautiful subtle greens that give the bed just the right touch of color.

While I don’t have my bedroom photographed yet, I’ve included some bedding that I used to inspire my personal bedding choices – think white coverlet or duvet with monogrammed shams and coordinating trim! You can never go wrong with this classic bedroom look.

Resolution #2: light more candles

The real goal behind this one is to have a warmer, prettier smelling home. Have you ever walked into someone’s home and immediately commented on the scent of the home. I have! If I know the person well-enough, I will even ask what they use to give the home such a lovely scent.

Here’s my round up of soft, not too much, but beautiful smelling candles that will be in my home this year.

Resolution #3: more health-conscious products around the home

Maybe this year, more than ever, I feel more aware and knowledgable about the sheer number of chemicals and harmful toxins are in our everyday products. This year, I am taking steps to cleaning out the old and replacing it with products free of toxic materials.

The one I’m most excited about (and frankly, is the easiest to implement) is our cookware. We are now proud users of Caraway cookware and love it now only for the it’s non-toxic coating but also for the ease of cooking with it. We got our first Caraway pan last year and recently, Caraway gifted the cookware set that we are loving! I have the navy blue which is on sale right now for $395 (retail $545!).

Resolution #4: waste less food

Between a baby, a move and fast-pace life, I lost track of food we had in the pantry and refrigerator more than I’d like to admit.

At the beginning of this year I went to Williams-Sonoma and picked up some glass canisters with airtight seals. They look nice in my pantry and help me see what food we have with the goal to reduce the amount of half-opened bags.
