I have always admired Whitney Sturge’s use of color — and this home is no exception. Whitney and her team at Whitney Sturge Interiors worked with the young family during a large renovation and then to decorate the home in a way that reflects their fun personality. Step inside as we tour this never before shared traditional Myers Park home. Thanks to Whitney’s generousity, you’ll find design sources for paint, wallpaper and more throughout this blog post. I hope you enjoy this home as much as I did!
Design Source: The exterior brick paint color is Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee and the shutters and door are Sherwin Williams Breezy.
The original kitchen was small and the dining room was very large so during the renovation they opened up the kitchen wall and were able to create a large kitchen and island along with a banquette seating area for casual dining. I love all the natural light in the kitchen and how the sink looks out to the backyard. Perfect for a young family to keep an eye on the kids while working in the kitchen.
Design Source: The kitchen countertops are white lux quartzite from Harkey. I especially love the added design on the backsplash under the windows and the ogee edge on the kitchen island.
While at the home, I asked Whitney if she had a favorite room in the house. With little hesitation, she said the dining room. I can see why. The gentle pink sisal wallpaper with the playful drapery pattern and pop of color on the bar cabinets, are complimented by the natural light and traditional fireplace. It’s a happy room with my favorite design element — a round dining table.
Design Source: The dining room wallpaper is Schumacher Haruki Sisal in petal and the drapery is Sister Parish Dolly drapery.
The girls’ bathrooms were adorable and each personalized for each daughter. I love the way Whitney adds wallpaper and paint to classic tile and plumbing selections. Lights are also a fun way to add style and each of these bathrooms show great options!
Design Source: The wallpaper in the bathroom is Lulie Wallace Sarah and the trim and cabinets were painted to match the wallpaper.
