Lighting serves so many purposes in our homes, from setting the mood to adding texture and visual intrigue. These home accessories play a big role in communicating the intention and style of a space.

We’ve rounded up the best examples of well-lit homes—sorted by room—often punctuated with Visual Comfort pieces.

kITCHENS

Layering lighting is one of the tricks of the interior design trade, and your kitchen is the perfect place to start experimenting. Start with a pair of pendants, which are equally beautiful and functional sources of light.

Many of our favorite kitchen designs feature sconces that frame a window and light up the sink area. Finally, lamps are a great way to add a pop of color. They can provide a more subtle glow when overhead lighting isn’t necessary.

In the kitchen below designer Katherine Melvin went with Visual Comfort’s Elsinore Hanging Lanterns over the island. We love the metallic and rattan sconces, and found a similar option from Serena & Lily.

The best dinner parties nail lighting—usually with a pretty sculptural chandelier and plenty of candles. Towsend Interiors brought a warmer feeling to the popular Visual Comfort Gramercy Grande chandelier by adding shades.

LIVING & LIFESTYLE AREAS

This entryway couldn’t be more well accessorized, with its chinoiserie lamps and playful Hampton Chandelier—another Visual Comfort classic.

We spotted a pair of similar blue and white lamps for under $175.

The autumnal color pallet in this cozy sitting area is thoughtfully reinforced with a classic table lamp. The glossy sheen and interesting shape adds a layer of sophistication.

If you’re looking for a lamp in a similar shade/style, this one might do the trick.

A disco ball-like chandelier is certainly appropriate for a bar area. Shimmer and sparkle always bring a festive flare.

PRIMARY SUITES

Another great space to experiment with layering is your primary suite. Bedside lamps and sconces provide just the right amount of light. And a chandelier ensures you’re bringing the design all the way up to the ceiling.
