One summer in college I interned at The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Birmingham, AL. I often found myself exploring the streets of Birmingham and its surrounding towns of Mountain Brook and Homewood admiring the detailed architecture and intentional landscaping.
If you live there or have visited, you know what all the fuss is about! It’s truly a place that is invested in maintaining the character of its neighborhoods. These new builds and renovated homes are just a handful of the many charming homes that grace the winding streets of Birmingham and its surrounding areas.
So many of the homes I encountered stopped me in my tracks. I love the curb appeal here, from the climbing ivy to the planters flanking the front door.
This home is so idyllic with its rolling hills, winding driveway and arched openings.
I’ve always loved how chippendale railings add character to a home’s facade.
No home roundup is complete without a little climbing ivy—another way to create more classic charm.
One thing I love about Birmingham is how the homes feel fresh, without straying from traditional design that stands the test of time. I love the paint combination used on the exterior of this stunning home, and the asymmetry of the windows.
